Job Description

Responsible for proper financial reporting of revenues, disbursement of funds, receipt all funds of the General Fund, Pensions, and Health Insurance. Code and record all funds to provide good financial reporting. Maintain records to meet IRS guidelines for all contributions received from individuals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Receive daily lock box for mission shares, clergy pension benefit billing, and health insurance billing. Reconcile lockbox and post into accounting systems; reconcile the receipts to the general ledger and provide the CFO with the mission share turnaround reports.
  • Mail mission share status reports to the local treasurers and clergy on a schedule specified by the  CFO/Treasurer. Provide  CFO/ Treasurer with reports for distribution to the home office and the District Superintendents.
  • Prepare monthly thank you certificates for churches achieving 100% before December 1. Provide clergy and local church assistance in understanding posting of payments and balances.
  • Invoice those who have charges owed to Conference and follow up on collections. Deposit funds as received. 
  • Prepare the necessary acknowledgements for the funds received to comply with IRS requirements. Prepare lists for the home office of 100% churches and churches that increased their giving. 
  • Assist the CFO with training/presentations of the apportionment formula and mission shares to the local churches. 
  • Receive and verify all payables (conference, insurance, and pensions) for accountability, accuracy, authorization, payment, and budget comparison. Set up vendor files by name, address, account number and 1099 information if applicable. Set up file folders, file all payables, and updated the general ledger after checks have been written. 
  • Maintain a file on credit card billings and properly post each charge to its respective budget account before last day of the month of the dated bill. Ensure enforcement of the Conference credit card policy. 
  • Prepare the turnaround of funds to all recipients.
  • Work with the Controller to close out month end and ensure financial statements are properly presented.
  • Work with the Controller and External Auditors on year-end close out. 
  • Other Duties as assigned by the CFO.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting from an accredited university, plus a minimum of three (3) years’ employment experience in accounting. 
  • Knowledge and experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge in purchasing/procurement.
  • Familiar with the companies mission, policies, and procedures.
