The Billing Specialist must have experience working with multiple payer sources such as Medicaid and commercial insurances. Must have strong experience in patient collections. Billing Specialist is responsible for reviewing medical coding, posting charges, electronic insurance claim submissions and processing, follow-up and appeals on denied claims, A/R tracking and collections. Billing Specialist will post payments received and identify and bill secondary insurances as necessary. Billing Specialist will receive and handle patient and insurance company inquiries relative to claims submitted and patient accounts. Billing Specialist will assist A/R accountant(s) with generating patient statements and compiling billing and A/R reports as needed. Billing Specialist must possess a strong attention to detail, have effective communication skills as well as a strong experience in resolving insurance denials and collecting on accounts receivable. All tasks must be performed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with government rules and regulations including Medicaid as well as Agency practices, policies and procedures.
Run billing reports and address billing issues, before batching the claims for processing.
Batch claims and import to clearinghouse for them to send to insurances.
Assist Accounts Receivable accountants in maintaining spreadsheets or reports.
Email supervisors to handle “held” claims not imported.
Research rejections from clearinghouse and/or commercial insurance payers.
Research insurance rejections.
Provide necessary follow-up information to aid in claim processing and payment collection.
Assists with Benefit Assignments.
Assists in verifying insurances.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and assist outside providers, physicians, and other referral sources in scheduling initial and follow-up appointments for clients.
Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette.
Demonstrate the ability to provide excellent customer service to both clients and internal or external referral sources.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate to clinic staff when scheduled appointment arrives.
An Associate's Degree is required along with a minimum of one year medical, behavioral or hospital based clinic office experience.
