Job Description

  • The Product Support Specialist is an entry-level. The position requires a degree in a natural resource field. The job requires contact with our customers answering questions concerning product we carry, as well as what type of product to use in particular situations. The candidate will be able to use his educational background, as well as related work experience in his area of expertise as well as in other markets served. The position will require out of town travel to conventions to promote the company and its products. The job will also expose the candidate to developing new products for the catalogs and brochures that are produced.

  • Offer second-to-none technical support
    • Answer technical line phone calls and voice mail center, tech e-mails, and letters.
    • Seek answers and solve problems
    • Recommend products for specific applications
    • Consult with vendors for technical information
    • Support other departments with technical advice

    • Co-ordinate with other technical staff a workable system for responding to e-mails, voice mails, and scheduling lunches to ensure the technical line is covered at all times
    • Consult with customers at the back counter as needed
  • Expand knowledge of our products, their applications, and the markets that we serve within all parts of the catalog
    • Look at every question as a learning opportunity
    • Seek opportunities to use get hands on experience with product
    • Assemble and disassemble products as necessary
    • Compare and contrast features on similar products so you can highlight the differences when asked
    • Read product labels, instruction manuals, parts lists, repair manuals, etc.
    • Read product reviews and other relevant articles in trade magazines
    • Research on the Internet
    • Collect technical information and product literature at trade shows
  • Create a good filing and information system

  • Offer New Product ideas or suggestions
    • Review the workings of products and make recommendations for improvement
    • Pass on customer feedback to new products personnel
    • Pass on repetitive special requests to new products personnel

  • Write catalog correction memos
  • Catalog and other literature proofing
    • Thoroughly review and edit catalog routes with special attention to new product added
    • Make close review that all catalog correction memos have been handled properly
    • Review for technical accuracy
  • Attend trade shows
    • Do pre-show paperwork as needed in a timely manner
      • Review previous year’s report and paperwork as needed
    • Travel to shows and setup exhibit displays
    • Network with customers and vendors alike
    • Seek out all types of opportunities for the company.

    • Complete post show task

Job Requirements

MUST have Forestry degree or a degree in Natural Resource field
