Job Description

An established commercial cabinet shop specializing in the manufacturing of Casework and other interior items for hotels, restaurants, banks, hospitals throughout the state is currently seeking an experienced Shop Manager that will oversee and drive continuous improvement and the optimization of all production and reporting duties in the Millwork Shop.

Main Essential Duties:

  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with orders and installation contracts.
  • Understand project documents including architectural drawings, specifications, scope, and estimator’s take-offs.
  • Oversee, plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day shop operations with the goal of always exceeding customers and production requirements.
  • Schedule, assign and prioritize all cabinet shop work.
  • Advise and support shop personnel on manufacturing methods.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and their condition and maintenance to ensure adequate supplies, materials, tools, safe operating conditions and a safe work environment.
  • Counsel employees on work-related issues and assist employees to improve skills and performance.
  • Advise employees on solutions to problems related to fabrication and assembly.
  • Inspect all finished products to ensure they meet the required standards, full completion and their readiness for scheduled deliveries.
  • Ensure maintenance of millwork machines.
  • Team up with staff to assist in the completion of production work as needed.
  • Ensure that correct materials/quantities are ordered with adequate lead time to keep production levels ongoing.
  • Enforce and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations, rules and working conditions while conducting weekly employee safety tool talks to ensure an ongoing safe environment.

Job Requirements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a millwork shop or similar role in the construction industry
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of architectural millwork including materials, engineering, fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of production cabinet assembly methods, along with custom methods
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong organizational and strategic thinking skills
  • Self-motivated, quality driven and an effective problem solver

 

Additional Information

Full-time Job- Works four 10 hour days 6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday
