Job Summary
The CAD Engineer is responsible for creating detailed millwork drawings and engineering documents that guide the production and installation of custom woodwork, cabinetry, and architectural millwork. This role works closely with project managers, and shop floor staff, buildable designs that meet both aesthetic and structural specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed CAD drawings for shop fabrication and field installation based on architectural plans, design intent drawings, and specifications.
Prepare cut lists, hardware schedules, and CNC-ready files.
Interpret architectural and interior design drawings with attention to millwork details.
Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and shop to resolve design challenges.
Apply industry standards such as AWI and ADA requirements in engineering documentation if needed.
Ensure files are compatible with machinery (e.g., Holzher, Biesse, Ganno Mat).
Maintain version control and ensure document accuracy throughout project lifecycle.
Review redlines and update drawings accordingly.
Participate in field measurements and verify site conditions when necessary.
Required Qualifications
Proficient in Microvellum (or equivalent millwork design software).
Strong understanding of architectural millwork and casework construction methods.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a millwork or cabinetry engineering role.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and technical specs.
Excellent attention to detail and time management.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microvellum.
CNC programming experience a must.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Drafting, Architecture, or a related field.
