Role Overview
As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions within the firm’s ecosystem. Your expertise will span across various services, including Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Purview & Compliance, the entire suite of Microsoft Defender products, among others.
Responsibilities
1. Azure Infrastructure and Services
• Deploy, configure, and manage Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage, networking, backup/recovery services, Azure Monitor & Security Center, and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
• Optimize Azure workloads for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
2. Microsoft Intune
• Manage device enrollment, compliance policies, and conditional access using Microsoft Intune & Microsoft Entra ID
• Oversee application and OS patch management for endpoints
• Create and maintain security policies within the MDM system
3. Azure Purview/Compliance Integration
• Leverage Azure Purview for data classification and governance
• Understand use case scenarios for integrating Purview with other services
• Prioritize recommendations and alerts in Microsoft Defender for Cloud, based on Purview data
4. Microsoft Defender Suite
• Work with Microsoft Defender for Cloud (formerly Azure Security Center) to secure cloud resources
• Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Identity (formerly Azure Advanced Threat Protection)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (formerly Microsoft Defender ATP) for endpoint protection
• Understand how Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (formerly Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection) enhances email security
5. Security Best Practices
• Implement security measures, including identity and access management (Entra ID), network security groups, and encryption
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GLBA, FTC Safeguards Rule)
6. Documentation and Collaboration
• Maintain detailed documentation of Azure environments, configurations, and processes
• Collaborate with other teams or team members to design secure solutions
7. Other•
Proficient in PowerShell to automate tasks in Azure/Intune/etc.
• Oversee traditional physical firewalls, network switches, VLANs, administration of various accounting software and other cloud-based software (SaaS)
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 2+ years’ experience working within the Microsoft cloud ecosystem
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
