Job Description

The Center for Student Engagement and Leadership at a Jackson, MS education institute is accepting applications for its Coordinator of Student Engagement & Leadership. Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement & Leadership.

  • Coordinator will assist with effective program planning; develops and implements projects, activities, and events to enhance student engagement.
  • This position will also serve as the primary advisor for BLUE Streak mentoring group and co-advisor to Student Government Association.
  • This position plays a key role in management of student organizations and will support the regular operations and processes for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) including managing operations and developing programs and resources for student organization leaders, enhancing the on-boarding experience for new student organizations and assisting in other leadership development programming for the department.
  • Additionally, this position will assist with providing marketing and promotion of events and activities, develops and designs various marketing strategies. materials, and tools to enhance programmatic initiatives.
  • Job Duties & Responsibilities:
    •Serve as the primary advisor for BLUE Streak mentoring group and co-advisor to Student Government Association
    •Assist in management of student organizations and will support the regular operations and processes for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) including managing operations and developing programs and resources for student organization leaders, enhancing the on-boarding experience for new student organizations and assisting in other leadership development programming for the department.
    •Design, develop, and oversee implementation of appropriate marketing strategies and initiatives directed for student activities
    •Assist with Welcome Week Leaders, coordinate the recruitment, selection, training, and development of Welcome Week Leaders.
    •Work collaboratively with university departments and external partners to design, plan. and execute activities for fall and spring Welcome Week.
    •Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology. Education, Business, Related Fields

Preferred Education: Masters degree in Student Affairs. Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel or other related field

Minimum Required Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education, student activity-related programming, orientation services or other related fields is strongly preferred. Graduate experiences are welcome as well.

•Ability to foster working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
•Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
•Demonstrates leadership, organization, and management.
•Ability to oversee a wide variety of activities.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
