Compliance Officer I

Job Description

The Compliance Officer will assist in the review of Housing Tax Credit (HTC) developments for compliance with requirements of Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC); properties financed under the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Affordable Housing Program (FDIC) and other applicable affordable housing programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Spearheading effective on-site visits
  • Accurately receiving & processing reports and fees
  • Appropriately preparing IRS reports on non compliance 
  • Occasional presentations at speaking engagements

The ideal candidate must possess a strong work ethic, analytical skills, knowledge of housing and community development issues, and the professional capacity to interact with individuals of diverse populations and from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Section 42 of the IRC and federal housing compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to real-world situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in public policy and administration, auditing, urban planning, or a related field and at least three (3) years of experience working with a property or asset management firm that has directly managed a portfolio containing HTC developments, STRONGLY PREFERRED.

Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
