Paralegal needed for a Ridgeland, MS Law office. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience, ideally specializing in family law, property law, and bankruptcy. Duties and Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and appellate documents to file with the court
• Prepare formal discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production and requests for admission, and discovery-related motions.
• E-file all court documents in state and federal court • Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel to coordinate scheduling hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, etc.
• Maintain an organized calendar and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Conduct legal research and factual investigation.
• Assist with locating and contacting witnesses and conduct witness interviews.
• Research to locate persons/defendants for service of process.
• Prepare for and assist with preparations, ensuring all necessary materials are ready and available for trial, hearings, mediations, and depositions.
• Summarize depositions, court transcripts, and case law research.
• Conflict checks and opening client files.
• Maintain active case list and provide attorneys with bi-monthly case status/updates.
• In domestic cases: gather and organize financial and family information; assist in preparing financial statements; interfaces with clients to prepare for hearings.
• May perform a number of other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent with the general level of the job and the responsibilities described.

• Requirements • 5+ years of paralegal experience.
• Family law and property law experience is highly preferred, with some background in bankruptcy and other related practice areas.
• Working knowledge of legal software tools for case management and Westlaw for legal research.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, prioritize and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
• Basic principles, concepts and methodology of legal proceedings and legal research.
• Paralegal certificate or degree preferred, or relevant years of experience.
