Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Quality Engineer supports the development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of the companies Quality Management System plant wide. This position interfaces with Production, Process, Laboratory, Maintenance and Administrative functions to ensure QMS aspects are in place and effective, sustaining Quality program. He or she is also responsible for developing, maintaining and controlling all Quality documents in relation to customers as well as training personnel in Quality aspects of the operation and performing quality audits.

The successful candidate will possess a high energy, hands-on leadership style and excel in building employee engagement.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities do not represent the entire list and additional tasks will also be required:

  • Build and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure that Syrah Technologies delivers high quality products.
  • Maintain ISO9001 Certification.
  • Develop and implement processes, controls, systems, etc… to improve efficiency and eliminate waste.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis and generate appropriate reports/documentation
  • Design and implement policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met during production.
  • Define and oversee sampling frequency procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an Audit Program for the site to assure process compliance to standards, in a continuous basis.
  • Responsible for the detection of quality variances and assure QMS complies with customers’ Quality Manuals.
  • Develop and implement all Quality tools (SIPOC, PPCP, PPAP, Risk Matrix, PDCA, RCA, etc…) to support Critical Processes are in control and capable.
  • Ensure that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed.
  • Assures compliance with corporate Safety, Health & Environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to site EHS and ESG performance by engaging and working collaboratively at all levels.
  • Works very closely and effectively with functional teams to ensure we meet customers’ expectations.
  • Develops and revises standard operational procedures and working practices, i.e., standard work.
  • Control calibration status and reliability for all Laboratory equipment.
  • Assure Lab practices comply with Standards.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Engineering.
  • Experience working in the Automotive or Battery industries
  • Working knowledge of ISO, ASTM, IATF standards and test method
  • Systemic and standardized mindset, capable of developing objective/concise systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of translating data into useful information.
  • Capable of translating Standards into simple Shop Floor systems.
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment is a plus.

Additional Information

If the candidate is relocating they will determine relocation allowance at time of negotiation. The company is open to weekly commute; housing stipend would be $18K per year, $692.00 per pay period.

Regular schedule weekly Monday-Thursday, 10-hour day, and available to take call / on site as needed for plant emergencies.
